Formats of open and place-based learning

From local energy projects, systems change initiatives in fashion or agriculture or retrofit programmes, all the exemplars in OPEN WORKS offer ways to learn that are open and/or place-based.

The examples captured in the database represent a range of different contexts and scales - but there are patterns and commonalities. We’ve grouped them into five types:

β†’ Visits and open days

β†’ Communities and networks

β†’ Immersives and intensives

β†’ Work-integrated learning

β†’ Challenges and demonstrator labs.

Different formats suit different needs and contexts - they work to complement other learning pathways, formal and non-formal, online and in the classroom.

We’ll be doing further analysis as we build the database and sharing observations and insights as we go.
